Did you know that the TRC is requiring that gas facility operators comply with new weatherization requirements?
The commission’s weatherization rule has been put in place to prevent a repeat of February 2021 when severe winter weather knocked out power to millions of Texans for days after power plants and gas infrastructure froze.
The TRC recommends the use of heat tracing devices to keep water or fluid lines operating, thermal insulation and chemical injection systems operating. By Dec 1st of each year, gas supply chain or gas pipeline operators must ensure the sustained operation of a gas supply chain or pipeline during a weather emergency.
